Rani Mukerji’s new film Mardaani 2, a sequel to the first installment of the franchise, released on December 13. As far as the collections of the film are concerned, Mardaani 2 had a slow start at the box office on its opening day. However, the film witnessed solid growth on Saturday.
Mardaani 2 earned Rs 6.55 crore on second day (December 14), bringing in the total box office collection to Rs 10.35 crore. Positive reviews from critics and strong word of mouth helped to boost the collections of Mardaani 2 on the second day of its release.

The Gopi Puthran-directed film released in 1600 screens and earned Rs 3.8 crore on the first day of its release.
Mardaani 2 has performed better than Rani’s last two films as far as the first day collections are concerned. 2018’s Hichki and Mardaani, which released in 2014, earned Rs 3.32 crore and Rs 3.46 crore on their opening days respectively.

The real test of Mardaani 2’s business will begin on the weekdays starting Monday.
The trailer of Mardaani 2 was released on November 14. Rani essays the role of a fierce police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, who vows to arrest a serial rapist – a 21-year-old boy, a role played by Vishal Jethwa. The plot of the film is set in Kota, Rajasthan.
Mardaani 2 is competing with Pati Patni Aur Woh and Panipat at the box office.
