It has only been a few weeks since Realme launched the Realme X2 Pro – its flagship device for the Indian market, and the company already seems to look for bringing a cheaper variant of the phone to India. According to some media reports, a new base variant of the Realme X2 Pro with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage has been spotted on Realme’s website, thereby hinting at the possibility of the new variant making it to India soon.

Last month, Realme launched the X2 Pro in India starting at a price of Rs 29,999. The X2 Pro has been positioned as a premium smartphone that goes on head-to-head with the likes of Redmi K20 Pro, Asus 6z and even the OnePlus 7T. Realme also brought in a higher 256GB storage variant with 12GB RAM for Rs 33,999 along with the Realme X2 Pro Master Edition that costs Rs 34,999. These variants make the most expensive phones Realme has ever sold in India.

However, Realme might be looking forward to coming out with a cheaper variant of the X2 Pro so as to take on the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro head-on. Xiaomi is rumoured to launch the Redmi K30 in India soon and Realme would want to have a phone that directly competes with the K30 when it launches. And on paper, the Realme will already have an advantage in terms of power.

For those who don’t know, Realme already sells the 6GB variant in China and it was expected that Realme would launch the variant in India too. The base version, apart from having 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, also uses UFS 2.1 type storage, which is slower than the UFS 3.0 storage on the other variants. With these compromises, Realme could bring down the price of the X2 Pro to almost Rs 25,000. And at that price, it could be the cheapest phone with a Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset.

The current variants of the Realme X2 Pro offer some great features unseen in premium phones so far. The 90Hz AMOLED display is a treat for gamers while the 50W Super VOOC fast charging system can charge the battery from 0 – 100 per cent in 30 minutes – that’s faster than any charging technology we have seen in a phone so far. It also comes with a 64-megapixel main camera that’s part of a robust quad-camera system.
